Timothy Hein, Artistic Director

Timothy HeinTimothy Hein focuses his love for Baroque music, composers and research on the ensemble and its activities. Initially specializing in German Baroque music and the works of J. S. Bach, he continues to broaden his knowledge and enthusiasm of Italian and French Baroque music. Since 1999, Dr. Hein has been Director of Music and Arts at Shandon United Methodist Church, Columbia, where in 2004 he received the Award of Distinction from the National Religious Music Week Alliance “for developing and maintaining one of our nation’s finest worship music programs.” In 2008, he was presented with the Legacy Award from Arts at St. Luke’s for his work with that organization. Among his primary conducting teachers has been Margaret Hillis, founding conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the eminent German conductor-scholar, Helmuth Rilling. He has conducted choral and instrumental ensembles in Germany, Belgium, Holland, England, Ireland, and seventeen American states. For a number of years he performed and toured as recorder soloist with the Baroque Soloists of Illinois.
