Life today can be quite challenging. Today’s complex, fast-paced world can make us feel disconnected, frustrated, unsure — searching for something more. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey at Shandon, you’ll find a place where you’re comfortable and accepted, a place to be inspired and encouraged, and a place to make a difference and celebrate life — a place to find your way. Meet us at Shandon this Sunday.
If you'll be visiting for the first time this weekend look for one of our “Ask Me” greeters wearing a gold Ask Me tag. They can answer questions and help you find your way around.
TRADITIONAL WORSHIP
Sundays, 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary
Stirring music, inspiring message and friendly atmosphere.
Traditional worship shares God’s messages that speak to our lives today. These services are filled with a diverse group of all ages and life stages. The services feature music by the Chancel Choir, Shandon’s premiere musical group; and often feature the Celebration Choir, contemporary choral music; Bella Voce, youth choir; Children’s Choirs; Wesley Ringers, handbell ensemble; and orchestra.
LIFELINE CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP
Sundays, 11:05 a.m. in the Dunn-Smith Ministry Center
Casual, upbeat style with a cool band and uplifting message.
LifeLine offers a fresh outlook on worship. The LifeLine Band keeps everyone engaged with joyful praise songs and dynamic images on the big screens. LifeLine is open to anyone who wants to experience a different type of worship. Enjoy biscuits, pastries and fellowship before the service. Dress is casual – come as you are!
WORSHIP FOR CHILDREN
Children are always welcome at our worship services and are encouraged to worship with their families. During the traditional services, a children’s bulletin and crayons are available, and children are invited upfront for an age-appropriate children’s sermon.
Age-level nurseries are available during all worship services for infants through three-years-old. Nurseries are staffed with trained, paid workers and parent volunteers.
At Shandon, children experience a Safe Sanctuary environment.
SEASONAL WORSHIP
In addition to our regular Sunday morning worship services, Shandon also celebrates special days and church seasons through worship such as Festival of Faith, Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas. This seasonal worship includes services such as:
Christmas Love Feast is a celebration rich in Christian community and includes sharing bread and coffee, candle-lighting and singing familiar carols. The service also includes “lessons and carols” telling the story of God’s gift of love through scripture and music. The Chancel Choir, with orchestra, performs this celebration.
Darkness & Light–Heartbreak & Hope: Longest Night Service is a meditative worship service that affirms that Christmas can be a bittersweet time for some and the service makes time for remembering, sharing our hurting places with God, and preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ.
Hanging of the Greens marks the beginning the Advent Season – commemorating the coming birth of Jesus through placing of ivy, cedar, mistletoe and holly. This service is designed to help us prepare our hearts to welcome the Christ Child. The Celebration Choir, with accompanists, performs this service.
Faith and Freedom, held on the Sunday prior to July 4, is a celebration of our Faith and the Freedom we have to share and express it. The Celebration Choir performs this service.
Children's and Youth Sundays celebrate our children and teens as disciples of Christ and embrace the joy and responsibilty of nurturing them in the Christian faith. These services are lead by Shandon's children and teens.
Service of Healing, offered periodically throughout the year, affirms the ministries of spiritual healing. It is God’s work of offering persons balance, harmony and wholeness of body, mind, spirit and relationships.
Blessing of the Animals witnesses to God's and the Church's love, care and concern for creation.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday school for all ages is offered 9:45 a.m. between the worship services. A variety of classes are offered for opportunities to discover God in the Bible and everyday life.
SPECIAL ASSISTANCE
Wheelchair access, hearing assistance devices and large-print bulletins are available at each service.
