Shandon Kitchen Ministry
Providing food for church life
Shandon’s Kitchen Ministry provides excellent meals for our church family events as well as meal support to our outreach programs. When you enjoy any of the delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners and treats here at Shandon, they are prepared by our Kitchen Ministry.
Shandon’s Kitchen Ministry has been thriving for 36 years, first under the leadership of Barbara Kirkland, and since 2000, under the direction of Tim Scott. Tim came to Shandon with a background in restaurants and catering, and this experience along with his genuine concern for people has provided a foundation that encourages community and service to others through both food and fellowship.
On a normal Sunday, Tim and our Kitchen Ministry staff prepare food for Sunday school classes, the LifeLine worship service, possibly a committee lunch and even a reception. Then during the week, they prepare more meals for Tuesday Lunch Bunch, Wednesday Night Manna, and possibly church group lunches or dinners. They also provide outreach meals for organizations such as Dreher High athletic teams and the Methodist Student Network at USC. And more recently, when we can’t be together in person due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kitchen Ministry is providing drive-through meals for Shandon families.
Our Kitchen Ministry has expanded over the years and continues grow, adapt and support church life at Shandon.
